In order to keep your information confidential, we are only able to discuss details of a patient’s medical record and care with a patient themselves, registered carers, or parents/guardians of patients under 16 years of age.

When a doctor perceives that a patient under 16 is able to understand advice that is given, they are under obligation to maintain confidentially. No information can be given to any other person without a patient’s written consent.

A GP has the right to decide that confidentiality cannot be maintained if they believe that a patient may be put medically at risk or are unable to understand advice or treatment available.

We understand that it can be difficult to discuss sensitive matters at the reception desk.  Please feel free to ask to go somewhere more private to discuss this if you wish.

All of our receptionists have signed confidentiality agreements and understand the importance of keeping your records private.
